Mauricio Ponga

Dr. Mauricio Ponga is an Associate Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering at UBC Vancouver.
Dr. Ponga’s research focuses on developing and implementing novel modelling simulation techniques to understand materials at the nanoscale to predict materials properties that are useful at the continuum scales. These techniques include large-scale ab initio and accelerated and classical molecular dynamics simulations. Before joining UBC, Dr. Ponga was a postdoctoral fellow at the California Institute of Technology and received his M.A.Sc. and Ph.D. from the University of Seville and B.A.Sc. from the National University of La Plata.
Dr. Ponga’s research interests include multiscale modelling of materials and mechanics of materials.
