Babak Mohamadpour Tosarkani
Dr. Babak Mohamadpour Tosarkani is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Applied Science at UBC Okanagan. He received his Ph.D. and M.A.Sc. degrees in mechanical and industrial engineering from Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University), in 2020 and 2017, respectively, and M.B.A. in finance from Multimedia University, Malaysia, in 2012.
Dr. Tosarkani’s interdisciplinary research bridges the gap between Engineering and Management, recognized and funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC). His co-authored paper on sustainable supply chain management received the Best Paper Award at the 2023 Administrative Sciences Association of Canada (ASAC) conference in Toronto, Canada.
Dr. Tosarkani has served as a UBC expert in media advisories on crisis management and recovery during disasters (wildfires and flood), and has been interviewed by CBC. His research titled “Blockchain technology improves supply chain performance” has been widely covered in the media.
Dr. Tosarkani’s research interests include operations and supply chain analytics, life-cycle assessment and circular economy, process design and simulation, and strategic sustainable development.
